How To Get To Anor Londo Ds3
This walkthrough will help players reach Anor Londo in the upper section of Irithyll of the Boreal Valley in Dark Souls 3. This area can be found after defeating Pontiff Sulyvahn and exploring the outer area beyond the church. We will show you how to join two covenants that are found on the way to Anor Londo, and we will help you find rings and valuable items in the process.
To reach Anor Londo, players must first defeat Pontiff Sulyvahn in the upper church of Irithyll of the Boreal Valley. Anor Londo is found just beyond this church, but you must first traverse dangerous rooftops and fight brutal enemies to get there. Head over to our Irithyll of the Boreal Valley Walkthrough for details on how to defeat Pontiff Sulyvahn if needed.
Starting at the Pontiff Sulyvahn Bonfire, head out the back door of the church just beyond the bonfire. There are two Crystal Lizards outside on the lower terrace. Kill them to receive a pair of Twinkling Titanite. To the right, look for a corpse that holds a Titanite Shard.
Head up the staircase to the left of the terrace. Ignore the item on the corpse above, as you can't reach this item until later. Ahead is an open courtyard containing several giants. Most are dead, but some are merely sleeping. There are also multiple Deacons roaming the upper ledge that will attack you from above with magic fireballs if you pass through the courtyard.
Don't head through the courtyard just yet. Instead, head directly to the left of the stairs to reach a covered section beneath the Deacons. There are stairs leading up to the unholy enemies that you will take in a moment. First, clear out the nearly invisible slaves hiding in the dark shadows of this covered area, and try to avoid their magic attacks. In the corner, you'll find the Dark Stoneplate Ring.

Now, head up the side stairs to reach the upper floor with the roaming Deacons. There is a side door leading back to the church for easy access. Over on the side, you can now reach the item on the hard to reach ledge from earlier. Pillage the corpse to receive a Large Titanite Shard. Back Inside the cathedral is a pillar that doubles as an elevator, which you can use to reach the upper balcony. Explore the balcony area to obtain a Simple Gem from a Crystal Lizard, as well as the Golden Ritual Spear from a Mimic chest.
Head back outside through the cathedral shortcut toward the Deacons, and begin clearing them out. Disregard the door on the left, as you cannot access it just yet. If you are actively embered, watch out for a pair of AI invaders who emerge near the giants as you reach the Deacons at the far end. Speaking of invaders, you should also prepare to be invaded by members of the Aldrich Faithful covenant while embered in this area. Invaders will be a blue-red color and tend to spawn either along the upper rooftops by the Knights, or near the far staircase across the courtyard.

The two AI invaders are Drang Knights, and they will appear near the sleeping giants down below. It is best to take on these enemies one at a time if possible, but chances are you will aggro both anyway. Keep your guard up, and watch out for magic attacks. Try to lure them near the stairs to avoid waking the giants and having to fight in the courtyard. The pair will each drop their Drang weapons when defeated.
Return to the stairs on the cathedral side of the courtyard. With the Deacons gone, you can pass through the courtyard without fear of being sniped from their magic attacks. Carefully head toward the item corpses in the courtyard, and try not to wake the giants unless you truly wish to fight them. Pick up a Soul of a Weary Warrior off the corpse in the courtyard, along with a couple of Embers close to the giants that are alive. Sneak over to the round terrace on the right to collect a Large Titanite Shard.
Discover the Aldrich Faithful
Go up the stairs on the far end of the courtyard and enter the archway at the top. Inside the structure, you'll find a staircase on the right that goes upward. Before going upstairs, go over to the corner on the left behind the staircase. Strike the illusory wall to reveal a hidden ladder that leads down to a watery chamber below.
Climb down the long ladder, but don't walk forward into the watery room. Ahead there is a vicious enemy in the far right corner, and another off towards the left. Stepping into the watery room causes both of these creatures to attack you at the same time, which you definitely don't want to happen. These creatures are Sulyvahn's Beasts, similar to the one you faced on the bridge when you entered Irithyll of the Boreal Valley.
If you have arrows, use them to lure the first beast over toward the ladder. The fighting space at the base of the ladder may be small, but it's better than facing two of these beasts simultaneously. Watch out for its side swiping bite attacks and forward lunges. Once the first beast is down, you can fight the second one in the large room.

Defeating the beasts will reward you with a Ring of Favor. Light the Water Reserve Bonfire, knowing that the beasts won't respawn. Collect the Human Dregs and Deep Gem from the corpses on the ground, then approach the figure in the corner. Speak with Archdeacon McDonnell to join the Aldrich Faithful covenant and receive the covenant insignia. Head over to our guide on all Dark Souls 3 Covenants for details on this faction.
Head back up the ladder and proceed up the staircase. Circle around the side to find a Titanite Scale near the corner. Face the rooftops of the adjacent building and prepare to head up the beams. There are several Silver Knight archers stationed along the rooftop ledges who will fire at you from a distance. Use your own arrows or ranged attack to take down the Knight on the upper ledge. If you fight the Knight up close, keep in mind that you can be seen by the other Knights positioned nearby.

Eliminate the Silver Knights along the rooftops to clear the area of threats. Afterward, look for a staircase on the right edge of the platform to obtain Easterner's Ashes from a corpse. When you return to the upper ledge, watch out for another Knight near the corner who waits to surprise you. On the lower ledge are two more Knights. Lure one of them over with a ranged attack to take them on one at a time. If you drop down even further, you can collect a Dragonslayer Greatbow and Dragonslayer Greatarrows, but keep in mind you'll have to drop down the sloped roof all the way to the bottom and make your way back to the upper ledges again.
With the Knights gone, go down to the lower level. Look for a Large Titanite Shard around to the left, then proceed across the bridge to reach the adjacent building. Descend the ladder and open the gate at the bottom to create a shortcut back to the cathedral. This was the locked gate you couldn't access earlier.
Head back up the ladder to return to where you left off at the upper ledge. Enter the doorway. You should see a path to the left. If you have been completing the steps in Anri of Astora's storyline, there should also be an open path to the right. If not, then attack the nearby statue to clear the illusory wall.
If you have completed tasks for Yuria and Anri up until this point, you can speak with the Pilgrim in the hallway to receive the Sword of Avowal quest item. In the corridor ahead, you'll find a Brass Helm, Brass Armor, Brass Gauntlets, and Brass Leggings on the corpse to the left.
At the end of the corridor is a spacious room. Around the right corner, look for a chest that contains the Reversal Ring. This ring will allow you to still complete the ritual with Anri, in the event that you gender-swapped while editing your character through Rosaria.

If you received the Sword of Avowal from the Pilgrim, take it to Anri at the center of the chamber to initiate the Rite of Avowal. This will grant you three more Dark Sigils. Return to this chamber at a later time after completing the ritual to receive Anri's Straight Sword. Check where the Pilgrim once stood to obtain the Chameleon spell. For details on this ritual and how it effects the ending, head over to our guide on How to Get the Best Ending in Dark Souls 3.
Head out the hallway and up the stairs to reach a circular room. Pillage the Ember from the corpse at the end of the path, then use the lever to the right to create a bridge by lowering the structure ahead. Cross over the bridge and go up the staircase. Push the lever at the top to turn the structure again. Cross over once more to ignite the Anor Londo Bonfire at the base of the steps ahead.
Defy Gravity to Meet Yorshka
Before going forward, there is another covenant to find nearby. Go back to the rotating stairs and push the lever again. Approach the open ledge, and look across toward a small tower in the distance. You may even see a small bonfire on the tower balcony. You'll just have to trust us on this one. Step off the ledge and onto an invisible bridge.
Walk straight toward the tower, and stop when you align with the balcony near the bonfire. Drop down onto the balcony and light the Prison Tower Bonfire. Around the left corner, you'll find Company Captain Yorshka, leader of the Blade of the Darkmoon covenant. If you received the Darkmoon Loyalty gesture from Sirris, perform this gesture in front of Yorshka to join the covenant and receive the insignia. Head over to our Covenant guide for details on the Darkmoon Knights.

There are several collectibles inside the prison tower. If you have the Silvercat Ring, it's best to equip it now while making your way down the tower. Drop down onto the right ledge inside the tower, and walk onto the beam toward a shiny collectible. Align yourself with the beam below you, and drop down to obtain the Painting Guardian's Curved Sword from the corpse. Continue your drop down to reach another item corpse that holds a Painting Guardian set, which contains the Painting Guardian Hood, Painting Guardian Gown, Painting Guardian Gloves, and Painting Guardian Waistcloth.
Drop through the hole to the left of the corpse onto a lower beam. Keep dropping down the beams until you reach the bottom floor. Head down the staircase, and you will find yourself back at the Church of Yorshka Bonfire. It turns out these stairs weren't a dead end after all. Rest at the bonfire to return to Anor Londo.
Onward to Aldrich
Return to the Anor Londo Bonfire at the front of the rotating stairs. Go forward up the large staircase ahead, where two Silver Knights await at the top. Use an arrow to lure one of the Knights toward you, and fight them individually. Defeat the two Knights, then beware of another red-eyed Knight to the right who guards a Soul of a Crestfallen Knight.
Since you can't open the main doors yet, head over to the left of the stairs instead. Pick up the Large Soul of a Weary Warrior on the left, and proceed forward. Enter the doorway, and collect the Giant's Coal from the familiar corpse at the base of the steps. Continue up the staircase all the way to the top level. There are two diverging paths you can take. To the right you can collect some Moonlight Arrows if you wish, but you'll likely get shot by Deacons. We're going to have you go left instead.
Before going down either path, look up to find a Deep Accursed spider-like creature hanging on the ceiling. You can fight this creature now to prevent it from dropping onto you later when you open the main doors. There are also Writhing Rotten Flesh blobs waiting to plop onto you as well. Defeat the Deep Accursed to obtain the Aldrich's Ruby ring.
Go down the left path and eliminate the three Deacons on the lower level. Pick up the Proof of a Concord Kept, and continue down the stairs to reach another pair of Deacons. Take them out, and beware of the rotten flesh blobs on the ground. From here you can loop around back to the other side of the upper level to reach the Moonlight Arrows if you didn't grab them yet, and take out the other two Deacons along the way.
Although the boss chamber is at the end of the dark corridor ahead, you must first open the main doors to create a shortcut back to the bonfire. Look in the left corner beside the doors to find a lever to open the doors. Before you leave, investigate along the left wall (with your back to the main doors) to find a chest containing an Estus Shard. Now you can head outside through the newly opened doors to rest at the Anor Londo Bonfire before heading into the boss battle.
Boss Battle: Aldrich, Devourer of Gods
Aldrich will reveal his grotesque yet familiar form once you enter the boss chamber. This is a rather tough fight, so make sure you come prepared ahead of time. Use an Ember and look for a friendly summon sign if you need additional help with this battle.

Aldrich uses a variety of different magic attacks, including a barrage of arrows, a soul spear, and even a dark vortex. The arrows are the most dangerous. You can stand behind the pillars in the room to take cover from the various ranged attacks, but keep in mind that Aldrich's straight shots can destroy the pillars as well.
The best method for dealing with Aldrich is to stay close and attack as much as possible, only moving away when you see a magic attack incoming, or if Aldrich decides to swing at melee range. Dodging and rolling are pretty crucial for this battle, so try to lighten your equip load in order to ensure your rolls are the fast kind. Wear the Chloranthy Ring to boost your stamina recovery time and allow you to dodge more often. Unless you have a shield with high Magic absorption, you may want to consider not using a shield at all, as blocking can hinder your stamina regeneration.
Aldrich has several orbs and arrows that track your location. These are much more difficult to dodge, so use whatever pillars you have left in the room to block the attack. If you don't have any pillars to take cover behind, run toward the projectile instead and roll forward to avoid getting hit. When you see Aldrich raise a bow straight up, run as far away as possible, because an arrow barrage is incoming.
After taking significant damage, Aldrich will begin teleporting around the room, possibly out of frustration. The dark vortex mist that surrounds him can inflict damage if you are too close. When you see Aldrich about to teleport, look around the room and try to reach his location without getting hit by the dark mist. When Aldrich's life bar reaches nearly half, he will incorporate fire attacks into his skillset. Try to stay near his back side to get in a few strikes before dodging his fire blasts. His tracking arrows linger longer during the second phase, so just try to time your dodging accordingly.
Once you defeat Aldrich, the Devourer of Gods, you will receive the Cinders of a Lord and the Soul of Aldrich. Ignite the bonfire in the back of the chamber, and pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Depending on how many Lords of Cinder you have slain, you may be teleported to the fight against the Dancer of the Boreal Valley after this fight, so be prepared. If no cut scene plays, then go ahead and rest up before heading to your next location.
